Federation International Des Societies Magiques
FISM is the acronym in French for the " Federation Internationale Des Societies Magiques" (International Society Of Magic Societies). FISM was founded in 1948 in Lausanne. At that time, there were 13 member- societies. Nowadays, FISM has 80 member societies from more than 40 countries, with more than 60, 000 magicians.
The aims of FISM is to be a leading global platform of magic committed to the enhancement, promotion and development of the Art of Magic. One way to achieve this aim is to organize the triennial FISM World Championships of Magic.

Organised by Magic Club, it was the first competition of its kind to be held at a shopping mall in Malaysia. Scheduled on the 28th of December 2008, at Pahlawan Mall In Melaka, the event became labelled as the "1st, Malaysia Close Up Magic Competition".
Before the competition began, shoppers were entertained by Joker Wong's comedic act. Steven Im's classical act left them in awe and he even managed to teach a simple trick to the audience. Eight magicians from all over Malaysia came together to get up close and personal with their audience and the judges which included Jacky Chang from Klang,and Vincent Tan- the organiser for this year's international magic extravaganza.
After deliberating, the judges decided to bestow the 1st prize winner- Lim Tau Kien, with an RM500 cash voucher, RM300 magic voucher, and a very special crystal prize from Magic Club! Ng Kok Keong and Teo Kuang Ming were the 2nd and 3rd prize winners respectively. All the magicians had been given by a certificates after the competition. Here's hoping for more close up magic competitions to be held in the future that challenge and raise the bar of our local magicians but most especially for the entertainment of those who are in love with the wonders of magic.
